Reported Tactics in DDCA Influence
New Delhi,07,DEC,2025,(India Today News Ca):- Delhi cricket administrators within the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) have allegedly employed pressure tactics, including secretly recording private conversations of critics and sharing them on social media to silence opposition and favor specific players. These recordings targeted discussions on selection omissions and oversized squads exceeding BCCI norms, with one instance played to DDCA president Rohan Jaitley to push certain inclusions.
Targeted Complaints and Coalitions
A coalition holding five seats on the DDCA’s 12-member apex council has filed signed complaints against senior staff like the acting CEO and legal advisor, circulated publicly for added pressure, ostensibly over finances but linked to under-16 team selections. This mirrors broader governance issues where officials reportedly defy Lokpal orders barring their presence at selection meetings, enabling undue sway.
Inflated Squads and Interventions
DDCA teams have sent oversized squads to BCCI tournaments, such as a 25-member (later 27) group for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, allowing backdoor entries like rushing in replacements post-injury. President Jaitley intervened in a U-19 Vinoo Mankad case, removing a non-wicketkeeper selected as backup under alleged official pressure, highlighting selector autonomy breaches. These methods persist amid delays in formal selector appointments, relying instead on trial statistics.
