Team Brown’s Disbandment Announcement
BC,21,JAN,2026,(India Today News CA):- The Kamloops, B.C., curling team skipped by Corryn Brown announced its disbandment over the weekend of January 17-18, 2026, shortly after losing the final of the B.C. women’s provincial championships to Taylor Reese-Hansen’s Victoria rink.
Reasons for the Decision
Team members—skip Corryn Brown, third Erin Pincott, second Sarah Koltun, and lead Samantha Fisher—described the move as mutual and timed with the end of a four-year Olympic cycle. They emphasized preserving their friendship, stating on social media, “No matter where curling and life take us next, we remain each other’s biggest fans.” The season’s disappointments, including an early exit at the Canadian Olympic qualifiers and missing the Scotties wild-card spot, contributed to the choice.
Team’s Accomplishments
Team Brown represented B.C. at four Scotties Tournaments of Hearts, reaching playoffs in 2025, and ranked #25 worldwide and #8 in Canada at disbandment. Formed from high school roots, the core trio of Brown, Pincott, and Fisher earned Canada Winter Games gold in 2011 and World Youth Olympics bronze in 2012.
Future Plans
Members plan to pursue new curling opportunities, with Brown intending to stay in Kamloops and Fisher continuing her career post-maternity leave. Changes are expected across Canadian teams after the Scotties Tournament of Hearts (January 23-February 1, 2026, in Mississauga).
